Fantastic Beasts at Maison

As Potterheads, it’s going to be a shame if we wouldn’t be able to watch Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them during its first week, that’s why my college friend Lynsey and I already bought our tickets last November 10 even though the movie’s gonna be out on the 17th. (Nope, this isn’t going to be a movie review because I don’t want to be a spoiler.)

We had to chose between IMAX at SM Mall of Asia and Director’s Club – Maison (Conrad Hotel). We ended up buying a ticket for the Nov. 18 – 6:00 PM schedule at DC Maison for a new experience.

We arrived at Maison just a few minutes before the screening started. The attendant in the Director’s Club at Maison approached us at once and walked with us to our seats. We settled ourselves on our lazy boy because we actually ran our way from the MOA terminal going to Maison – Conrad Hotel (which was a few blocks away from SMX). After a few minutes, our popcorns were served. Funny ’cause we actually thought that we’re going to have unlimited popcorn (that’s what I’ve read on some blogs); we finished our bowl in less than an hour. We asked one attendant if the popcorn’s unlimited, but he said that it’s just one bowl per person. We just bought drinks to compensate our excitement for the popcorn. Hahaha.

The DC experience (Php 450.00) we had at Maison was great since we were able to choose a good seat. The level was just right for us to enjoy the movie comfortably. The lazy boy seats, as they are, could be adjusted at the push of a button. It was cold in there, so I suggest one should bring a jacket (or perhaps some blanket lol) when you watch at DC Maison. Aside from the free bowl of popcorn, it’s like being treated as a VIP since at the push of a button, their attendants would approach you to ask what you need. You can order food from them, sit back, relax, and wait for your food to be served. They were accommodating and everything went smooth.

After the movie, we had a quick stroll at Maison too but decided to eat at MOA since there are more food choices there.

Our Fantastic Beasts at Maison went pretty cool and if you’d ask me if I’d be willing to pay an extra price for a VIP movie experience every once in awhile, I definitely would. 😉

It was the first day of the 37th Manila International Book Fair yesterday. After work, Lynsey and I met at SM Mall of Asia before heading out to the SMX Convention Center to score new books at discounted prices.

After paying the Php 20.00 for the MIBF ticket, we went to Fully Booked‘s nook. I really didn’t have a book in mind, so I took my time looking for something new to hoard (lol). It was fun – and of course, really hard – to decide what books to buy. If only I had unlimited resources, I would’ve bought everything I could!

I was able to take home two gems from the MIBF. I know I still have a long list of pending books to read but… Who cares? Books are love!

After our book hoarding date, Lynsey and I had our dinner at Gotti’s Ristorante at MOA. We asked for their bestseller for the pizza and since I was craving for lasagna, we ordered one plate as well.

The guys from Gotti’s were nice and they only have 5% service charge. It was indeed a good try.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how bookworm friends bond together.
